Spent the night in Williston ND in an RV just outside of town.  The temperature here is going up and is predicted to be in the high 90's low 100's - YUK!

It is interesting to drive across ND as the east side of the state is relatively flat while the west side becomes more rolling.  ND is definitely an agriculture and oil state.  The crops vary from potatoes, soy beans, and hay on the east side to wheat and hay on the west.  Oh yeah, oil is found on the west side of the state where there appears to be a fair amount of drilling going on.

There are lots of gravel trucks on the road that are either working on the highways or supporting new oil-drilling sites.  Since the harvest season has begun, there are more and more ag trucks hauling their wares to the local silos or producers.

If you think the economy is growing, you should drive through small-town mid-America.  There are lots of closed businesses or businesses for sale... to many for my liking.  One of the contributors to this condition is the "big box stores".  These are generally located outside of a fair-size town with several smaller towns nearby.  The "downtown" areas of the nearby towns are devastated... most stores are closed or in the process of closing - even those that have been open for many, many years. SAD!

We are headed to Havre ND where we will spend the night before crossing into Canada tomorrow... at least that is the plan at this moment.

Until next time, keep your loops open.
