Another couple of days gone by… they sure do go fast. We camped on the beach for the past couple of days at an RV park where we have had full hook-ups… no that is not dry camping but we have been dry.
The sun peaked out from behind the clouds Sunday evening and Monday was a beautiful day. We walked the beach in the AM, rode our bikes around the area in the afternoon, and then went for a short walk to the harbor in the evening. We stopped to watch some surfers but as the waves were not terribly high, they had a hard time getting a long ride… short and sweet (?) as they say. Here are a few pictures of the area… Brookings, OR
Tuesday was cloudy and we had planned to do several things but as the best laid plans would have it, they went awry! Last night the ice cream that we bought was soft so we cranked up the freezer thinking that it was the warmer weather we were experiencing. Well, this morning we found out that the fridge wasn't working on gas or electric as everything was getting warmer. The lady at a local snack bar, offered to put our frozen stuff in her freezer for us… she is a God send as we really didn't want to eat 6-steaks, a couple of pounds of hamburger, chicken, brats, etc in one meal! We called a local RV service company (there aren’t many in this area) and they came out to look at it. Bad news! The coils on the fridge are no longer working, which means we don’t have a fridge or freezer. Norcold (the manufacturer) want service people to jump through hoops (unrealistically in my opinion) to determine if the coils really are bad. After talking to Norcold myself, the only alternative is for us to head to Eureka, CA where the dealer there “might” be able to do something. If it is the coils it will take a week to ten days to get them from Ohio… how’s that for customer service. Oh well, Arda did manage to get the laundry done so we a good for a few more days - especially if we turn our underwear inside out or if we are in dire straights, trade underwear. :-)
Tomorrow we are going to head to Eureka, CA… a 2 hour drive with the hopes that we can get the fridge situation straightened out.
Until next time, keep your loops open!
