We crossed into Oregon on Thursday but hwy 101 didn’t change much. Still lots of trees, rough roads, and no view of the ocean. We spent Thursday night in a campground in Tillamook where the campsites (?) where so close together the slides from the RV’s almost touched. Since the weather was miserable it really didn’t matter as we sat inside anyway.
On Friday we left around 10:00 AM as it was another rainy day. We drove a short distance and then were on the coast line where we could see the beach and the ocean as we drove along. Although the coast was nice to see, it would have been beautiful if the sun were out… oh well maybe another day. Tonight we stayed in the Three Rivers Casino parking lot in Florence OR. As you can see from the photo we had plenty of company... we counted 31 other rigs in the parking lot and we know they were coming and going all night long!
Here is a video from the last couple of days…
On Saturday we woke to rain and fog again so we decided we would just drive until we found a pull-out where we could stay for the day/night. In Oregon it is legal to stop over-night in pull-outs when they are not posted to the contrary. We found a beautiful spot with a view of the ocean, lots of rocks and off the road so the traffic didn’t bother us. We walked in the rain down a trail to the ocean where there was a cave that the ocean had created… it was cold looking. Here is a video of the area -
Sunday we had decided to go to Brookings to church and then head for the Beachfront RV Park which is right on the ocean. We were able to park with our back windows facing the ocean and we can hear the waves crashing against the shore as we sit here. The sun is even starting to shine a little as I write this so maybe…
Till next time, keep the loops open!
