Travel from West Glacier Park was very interesting today... if you like different topography that is. We left forests and mountains behind at Libby MT for rolling hills with miles and miles of wheat being harvested. This gave way to the orchards of what is called "Apple Valley" in Washington State although there are pears, peaches, grapes for wine, and other fruits as well as apples here. It is strange to look into the distance and see the mountain grasses all dried up and brown while at the bottom of the mountain is a carpet of green... orchards, hay, etc. which is watered.
We stayed in Ponderay ID Wednesday night - early stop. We had all the conveniences of home as Arda was still not feeling great so she didn't have to do much of anything except cook, clean, dishes, and laundry - just kidding. The next morning we headed to Icicle RV Park in Leavenworth WA. This was once again a short day as Arda was pushing herself once again.
For dinner last night dinner we had buffalo burgers cooked over an open fire... thanks Al, they were great!
We have decided to stay here for the long week-end (if possible as we have to check this AM) so Arda can recover. This is a beautiful campground which is well maintained and sits in a valley with mountains and forests rising on both sides of us.
The town of Leavenworth is a real tourist town with a theme of either German or German-Swiss. Many of the houses and shops are built/painted in the "mountain styles" of Germany. It is a neat little town but I suspect it is empty in the winter.
Well that is all for today folks... keep your loops open until next time.
